About Us:
The Garrett County Historical Society and Dailey's
Park offer a glimpse into the diverse past of the Deep
Creek Lake area. Our rich history includes: the world's most
lavish hotels, Civil and World War involvement, Native Americans,
brave pioneers and hunters, German settlers, the coal, farming
and timber industries, and great American visionaries. In
addition to the museum's exhibits, we offer an extensive
local history and geneology research library to the general
public and a book
& gift shop. You can also visit our online
articles and exhibits, which offer and overview of Garrett
County's History, most of our historical photo collections,
and some additional collections that are not housed in the
museum. Dailey's Park, located next door, offers a glimpse
into the grandeur of the world-famous hotels that attracted
presidents and other noteworthy guests to Garrett County in
the 1880's and 1890's.
